Living on Campus - Specific Session

Occupancy is available for one of the summer academic sessions:

  • May term: May 20 - May 12
  • 4-week session (1): May 30 - June 29
  • 5-week session: May 30 - July 3
  • 8-week session: May 30 - July 28
  • 6-week session: June 13 -July 28
  • 4-week session (2): July 5 - August 3
  • Entire summer: May 30 - August 1

May Term Residents

May term is only available to students with an existing spring 2021 assignment in a CWRU residence hall or university-operated Greek house. Students who sign up for May term would remain in their current spring assignment until they move to their summer assignment between May 27-29, or if their summer assignment is not ready, between June 4-6.  You will receive email communication indiciated when you will be able to move.

Spring Transitional Housing

Students with an existing spring 2021 assignment in a CWRU residence hall or university-operated Greek house who will live on campus for the 4-week, 5-week or 8-week session may also choose spring transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from May 20 when the residence halls or university-operated Greek houses close for the spring semester, through the start of the first academic session on June 1.

Students who sign up for spring transition housing would remain in their current spring assignment until they are able to move into their summer housing assignment.

  • Students will move into their summer housing assignment between May 28-30 or if your summer assignment is not ready, between June 4-6. It is expected that you remain on campus during transition so you are prepared to move at anytime.  You will receive email communication indicating  when you will be expected to move.
  • Students are expected to pack early and be ready to move when they receive the email notification from University Housing.
  • All students will be moved into their summer housing assignment by Sunday, May 30 or Sunday, June 6 at the latest (depending on which timeframe you are moving).
  • University Housing will notify students as soon as possible if any special move situations occurs.

Fall Transitional Housing

Summer housing students with a Fall 2021 assignment in a CWRU residence hall or university-operated Greek House, who have lived on campus for the 8-week, 6-week or 4-week (2) summer session, may also choose fall transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from August 1 when the summer academic session ends, through August 18 when the residence halls and university-operated Greek houses open for the fall semester for returning students.

Students in fall transition housing would remain in their summer housing assignment until they are able to move into their fall housing assignment.

  • Students will move into their fall housing assignment between Thursday, August 5 - Saturday, August 7, unless otherwise communicated due to early arrivals or building preparations. It is expected that you remain on campus during transition so you are prepared to move at anytime.
  • Students are expected to pack early and be ready to move when they receive the email notification from University Housing.
  • All students will be moved into their fall housing assignment by Saturday, August 7, 2021.
  • University Housing will notify students as soon as possible if any special move situations occur.

Room Rates

All summer charges will be billed via student accounts through the Office of Student Financial Services. Charges for spring transition dates before May 30 will appear on spring bills as an extension charge. Charges for fall transition dates after August 1 will appear on fall bills as an early arrival.

*Spring Transition is only available for spring residents with a summer contract. Students stay in their spring assignment until they move into their summer assignment.

Application and Assignment Process

Applications will be available soon!

Applicants must select the period of occupancy, including any transition periods, and accept the summer residence hall agreement when the application is completed. Building and roommate preferences can also be submitted, though Housing cannot guarantee that all requests will be fulfilled.

We will begin to make assignments the week of May 10. If you have a specific roommate or room type preference, please submit your housing application by May 9.

Roommate Requests

Students will be able to submit summer housing roommate requests online at MyHousing. Guidelines for roommate requests are as follows:

  • Create your roommate group by entering in each person's summer housing application number and authorization code.
  • For summer 2021, you may request roommates using the following guidelines:
    • For Clarke Tower, a maximum of 4 roommates.
    • For The Village and STJ, there will be a maximum of one more person than there is number of bathrooms in an apartment.
  • You are not guaranteed to be the only individuals living in your room/apartment.
  • Housing reserves the right to fill the open spaces in your suite/apartment.
  • Coeducational groups must completely fill the suite/apartment (using above guidelines).

Summer housing assignments will be made based upon lifestyle characteristics and building preferences listed on the housing application, and roommate requests submitted online. Students will be notified of their summer housing assignment the week of May 10. If you have a specific roommate preference, please submit your housing application by May 9.
